Dunnotar Castle Portrait

from $650.00

My favorite memory of this day occurred while walking the grounds of Dunnottar Castle, playing a little tourist before the sun went down, and giving me the light I was craving. An old Scottish man was sitting in a chair and gleefully pointing at the ruins of an old church. "See that right there? That's where William Wallace burned 4,000 Englishmen alive. " I've never seen a bigger "shit-eating grin" on a man, nor a bigger sense of pride in one's culture and history. Good for him.

This particular image was taken a bit off the beaten path. Whenever I go to popular spots filled with tourists, I make it my mission to find detours less traveled because I want to be able to think and breathe without the anxiety induced by human cacophony. This approach often yields unique compositions as well. So while I do have enough belief in my skills to make unique images from the main hero shots available to everyone, I take specific pride in finding the less common frames too.

This print is perfect for those who appreciate castles, European history, and majestic seascapes and want something green and calm to wake up to.
