A Good Egg (vertical)

from $650.00

Tokyo's Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower reflects the first rays of light at sunrise in the Shinjuku district. Form and function blend into this iconic lattice design revitalizing the area with contemporary architectural design. I took this shot on an early morning stroll through the city where I noticed a pleasant and disturbing trend. Despite being one of the largest, most densely populated cities in the world, early mornings are quieter than almost anywhere in The States. The only occasional souls around were city workers, but otherwise, I had the streets to myself. I think the Japanese culture plays a to in this as well because even when the streets are packed, it's never obnoxiously loud, even on a packed train. Often the loudest people around are other foreigners. I was searching for a way to sneak into a different building to get a higher vantage point of this building, but I couldn't figure it out and I didn't want to miss the light. So I took advantage of the empty streets and parked my tripod in the middle of the road ( not smart or safe), set it on a timer, and ran back to the sidewalk so I could include a human element into the frame and add a sense of scale to the architecture.

If you're a fan of contemporary architecture, modern design, and quiet urban streets, have I got a print for you.
