Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying
You know that final monologue in Shawshank Redemption where Red (Morgan Freeman) finds Andy's letter under the tree, violates his parole, and narrates his hopes and dreams for his final years as a free man as he whispers that he hopes "the pacific is as blue as in my dreams?" Well, this image is what his dreams were made of.
It's a simple scene of rock and water. But these sharp ridges echo with the memories of the natural forces that have shaped them for many human lifetimes. It was also my first trip to the coastal cliffs of Torre Pines on a trip to San Diego. It was the last trip I'd take before the world went into lockdown, and I would stare at this image often. It kept me sane. It brought me peace. Its presence took me back to that perfect climate, the symphony of waves and sea lions and I knew more than anything I would go back and live there someday. I never got to live so close to these cliffs when I finally made the move, but I saw them as often as I could make the trip, which is to say, not often enough.
The ideal print for those who love nature, seascapes, rock formations, and a soft, subdued image that won't demand too much attention but will always be there for you when you need it.
I hope this print brings you the same mental and spiritual nourishment that it brings me.
