Steel Medicine

from $420.00

Feast your eyes on the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas, designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry. The architecture of this building is an example of Gehry's signature deconstructivist style, characterized by fragmented forms, unconventional shapes, and a sense of controlled chaos. But that "chaos" is purely for aesthetics. The building is highly functional. The design serves its purpose as a medical center specializing in brain health, with the flowing, organic forms symbolizing the complex, intricate nature of the human brain. The interior spaces are designed to be calming and welcoming, contrasting with the more intense exterior.

I took this shot because I needed to calm my nerves and get out of my head the night before one of the more important days of my life. I was to speak in front of a live audience of about 200 people about the impact of artificial intelligence on the photography industry. It was my first public speaking gig...like ever. Trial by fire for someone who'd spent his entire life being shy, introverted, and doing anything he could to avoid talking to other humans. But we only grow outside of our comfort zone.
